Good Bears of the World
Good Bears of the World (GBW) is a non-profit organization recognized internationally for gifting teddy bears to abused, neglected, traumatized, or sick children and the forgotten elderly. Founded in 1969, GBW provides bears to places where love, solace, and comfort can make a difference. The official GBW logo is a smiling bear superimposed on the world’s globe.
Goal: The goal of GBW is to promote good will, alleviate trauma and suffering, and spread love and compassion through the sharing and giving of an ageless symbol of love, the teddy bear. Firemen, policemen, emergency workers, psychologists, and grief counselors have all discovered the teddy bear's magical healing power on children in traumatic situations.
Dens: There are GBW chapters (dens) in 26 states and 5 countries to include Canada, England, Germany, Japan and the Netherlands. Ted E. Vegas was chartered in July of 2000 and is the only den in Nevada.
Gifting: Each year GBW gives tens of thousands of
teddies
to children in need in both in the US and abroad. Recipients included
hospitals; fire, police, and rescue squads; shelters for abused women and
children, orphanages, foster homes; the Red Cross, and nursing homes. Teddy
bears are also provided to victims of floods, tornadoes, hurricanes, and other
tragedies.
Funding: Members of Ted E. Vegas raise funds to buy child safe teddy bears for local gifting and to contribute to GBW International's efforts around the world. Funds are raised by den members through auctions, raffles, craft fairs, shows and special events. Giftings depend on giving. Cash donations and sponsorships are needed and gratefully accepted.
Donating: GBW
is a 501(c)3 charity. All donations to Ted E. Vegas are tax deductible.
Donations of new or gently used teddy bears that are child safe are greatly
appreciated. Donated bears may be dropped off to:
Joining: People of all ages and walks of life are welcome as members of Ted E. Vegas. If you think joining in a deeply satisfying organization is something you would enjoy, or you would like more information about our den, contact Becky or Dawn
